Height from the Floor
- Standard handrail height: 34–38 inches (36” is standard) above the stair tread or ramp surface.
- Measure from the top of the handrail to the floor or stair nosing.
- We highly recommend adding 6”-12” extra for better look and safety!

Entire staircase length measurement is the minimum required handrail length. For code compliance and added safety, we recommend extending the handrail an additional 12 inches beyond the nose-to-nose length, if space allows.
